Mustelus antarcticusSize: To 177 cm and 25 kg (commonly 100 – 120 cm and about 5 kg). Habitat: Marine; demersal on the continental shelf and upper slope from shallow estuaries to depths of about 400 m. Fishery: More than 1000 tonnes landed annually off southern Australia. Caught using bottom set long lines and gill nets. Remarks: This is the main species caught in any quantity. Consumed as “flake”! Domestic: Chilled and packed for transport in random weight bags or 15 kilo poly boxes. Frozen, layer packed in 10 kilo shatter pack cartons. Fish Cuts: Skin off fillets. Recipes: Fish and Chips with Mushie Peas and Tartare Sauce
