Hyperoglyphe antarcticaSize: To 140cm and 50 kg (commonly about 55-90 cm and 2-10 kg. Habitat: Marine; adults benthopelagic above rocky bottoms and seamounts in 200-600 m, young more midwater often to the surface. Fishery: Caught mainly using droplines and longlines, but also taken as a by catch of demersal and midwater trawls. Main fishery occurs on the continental slope between Sydney (NSW), Adelaide (SA) and around Tasmania. Remarks: Among the most highly regarded temperate foodfishes. The off-white flesh is firm, moist and delicately flavored. Export: Chilled and packed for air in 15 kilo poly boxes or frozen in 10 kilo shatter pack cartons. Domestic: Chilled and packed for transport in random weight bags or 15 kilo poly boxes. Frozen, layer packed in 10 kilo shatter pack cartons.
