Seafood storage
Whole Fish |
| • Scaled and remove gills and gut
• Wash in cold water and dry well
• Wrap in plastic wrap, alfoil, or place in covered container
• Store in refrigerator
• Use within 2-3 days |
Fillets and cutlets |
| • Wash in cold water and dry well
• Wrap in plastic wrap, alfoil or place in a covered container
• Store in refrigerator
• Use within 2-3 days |
Shellfish |
| • Wrap in alfoil or place in a covered container and keep in refrigerator
• Use within 2/3 days
• Live mussels, oysters, pippies and cockles will die if placed in refrigerator. Keep these in a damp Hessian bag in a cool, dark place such as laundry. Use within 3 days. Discard any that open prior to cooking. |
Smoked fish |
| • Put in covered plastic container or wrap in alfoil
• Do not wrap in cling wrap as smoked fish sweats
• Use by dates are always on products |
